Yvonne Ouma is an Associate Advocate at Lesinko, Njoroge & Gathogo Advocates having been admitted to the Bar in 2023. She has been able to hone her professional skills in advocacy, research, drafting, reviewing, presentation and negotiation. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Strathmore University and a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.

She has vast experience in handling commercial briefs ranging from trademark registration to contractual drafting, as well as conveyancing transactions pertaining to the sale and purchase of properties.

A strong believer in the implementation of data privacy practices, Yvonne has undertaken data protection training administered by the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology (CIPIT). She has also undertaken global data protection training with the International Association of Privacy Professionals and is currently awaiting Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) certification.

Beyond the o ce walls, Yvonne serves as a Committee Member at the Law Society of Kenya ICT and Intellectual Property Committee.

  • Undertaking due diligence, preparation, stamping, registration and perfection of bank securities involving immovable and moveable properties for various banks and lending institutions including Equity Bank, Tower Sacco, Kimisitu Sacco amongst others Real Estate and Conveyance transactions.
  • Part of the Team advising a big property development company on the legal structure for acquisition, development and sale of high-end 323 residential apartments in the Westlands Area of Nairobi. The brief entails offering legal advice on a continued basis and undertaking work relating to procuring from the relevant authorities, development permits, and change of user of the land, drafting the contract documentation, offer letters, and processing of Sectional Property Titles in the development, agreements for sale.
  • Acting for Commercial Property owners in negotiating terms of and drafting associated lease agreements and procuring stamping and registration at the relevant land registries.
  • Undertaking due diligence, preparing, negotiating, and reviewing transfer, lease, and license documents, procuring completion documents, and undertaking stamping and registrations of the related instruments.
Advisory
  • Offering legal advisory to property owners on how best to handle transactions with the view of protecting their interests, payment of tax, particularly capital gains tax on the issues of exempt transactions, identification of transfer value, adjusted costs, and incidental costs.
Intellectual Property Rights
  • Advising clients on various classes under which to register their marks to achieve maximum protection of their rights, preparing and lodging for registration relevant documents for registration of the marks, culminating inthe  issuance of a certificate of registration from the Kenya Industrial Property Institute.
